The History Behind Archery
Some of the first record of Ancient Archery was in Central Asia around 2500 BC, and these Ancient Archers began with a Long Bow which developed into the Re-curve Bow around 1500 BC. The Egyptians advanced the use of Bow and Arrow, as they did with a good amount of other Sports. These Bows required a certain amount of skill and a goodly amount of practice for harvesting food and use in war. The Modern Archers have developed the Compound Bow with its pin point accuracy; but for some the Traditional Archery (Long and Re-curve Bows) has an appreciation of the skill needed to guide an arrow home the still runs deep in the sport of Archery. At Woodland Archery we have designed a course in the woods that can entertain all skill levels.
ABOUT WOODLAND ARCHERY OF GEORGIA
Featured at ETOWAH VALLEY SPORTING CLAYS
Etowah Valley Sporting Clays is pleased to offer the southern version of archery which has a lot in common with the original game of golf. Shot with a traditional re-curve bow and target-type arrows, this version of archery is started off from a traditional tee and shooting lanes, culminating on a green with a standing bulls-eye ringed target.
